Treatment of Vascular Surgeon shameful says Opposition
Opposition Leader Olive Crane and PC Health Critic James Aylward
believe the Premier and Health Minister Doug Currie are jeopardizing the health and safety of Islanders.
"As of January 31, we have not had a physician to do vascular surgery," said Crane. "We are alarmed that the Premier and Doug Currie have not taken any action to ensure the safety of Islanders as a result of the resignation of Dr. Peter Midgley, our only vascular surgeon."
Aylward expressed shock that the Premier nor his Health Minister have responded to Dr. Midgley's resignation which they have had since January 4. "To my knowledge they have not even contacted Dr. Midgley."

Opposition says unemployment figures are alarming
Opposition Leader, Olive Crane says the latest Labour Force Survey statistics point to an alarming reality which the Opposition has been warning government about. The survey showed that PEI's unemployment number rose to 12.2 percent, up 1 full percent from last month, making PEI's unemployment rate among the highest in the country.
The survey also highlighted that the number of jobs in PEI has decreased by 1000 since last month.
Crane said she is weary of what strategies the government has in place to combat these figures and pointed to the most recent job fair for displaced Ocean Choice workers in Souris as the Liberal government's ‘comprehensive plan' for job creation.
